Food company UMTREE Co. has entered its sauces into Costco in the United States as it moves to target the North American market.
UMTREE said on the 24th that it has supplied its "Everjang" (meat onion, salad sauce) and "traditional gochujang" to Costco in the United States. The products recently went on sale at 40 Costco stores in California and Hawaii, with plans to expand across the United States.
Everjang is an all-purpose sauce that can be used in a variety of dishes. It features the savory taste unique to onions. It can accompany not only meat but also salad dressing, grilling, and stir-fried dishes. Traditional gochujang is a premium product aged for an extended period using a low-temperature fermentation method.
UMTREE is a food company that has specialized in the research and development and production of jang and sauces for 48 years since 1978. It currently exports to 45 countries and plans to expand to more than 80 countries within three years.
UMTREE CEO Kim Sang-hee said, "This is a result combining a challenge-minded approach to find new growth engines in overseas markets, based on quality-first management," adding, "With our entry into Costco as a starting point, we will strengthen our push into North America and pursue entry into Costcos worldwide going forward."
