Shinsegae Group said on the 24th that Chairman Chung Yong-jin inspected the construction site of Starfield Cheongna, which is being built in Cheongna International City in Incheon, on the 23rd to check the progress of the project. Chung's visit to the Starfield Cheongna site marked his fourth domestic on-site management activity this year, following visits in January to Starfield Market Jukjeon and Starfield Village Unjeong, and in February to Traders Incheon Guwol.
Starfield Cheongna is the world's first mega-scale complex leisuretainment space where a 23,000-seat multistadium, a hotel, an infinity pool, and a shopping mall are connected as one. It will span three underground floors to eight aboveground floors, with a total floor area of 495,000 square meters, making it the largest among Starfield locations.
Unlike existing domed stadiums, the multistadium at Starfield Cheongna will include a hotel and an infinity pool inside the venue. It will also be directly connected to the shopping mall, allowing customers to enjoy a variety of experiences in a single space.
Starfield Cheongna is 40% complete, with roof work planned for the first half of this year. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2027, with an official opening targeted for early 2028. After completion, the SSG Landers will use the multistadium as their home ballpark.
After touring key sections of the stadium and connection points with the shopping mall, Chung said, "I have always thought it would be good if our country had at least one stadium where we could hold the recently concluded WBC and concerts by world-class artists at any time," adding, "When Starfield Cheongna is completed, it will be a reason for many foreigners from around the world to visit our country."
Chung urged construction site employees to put safety first, saying, "Above all, safety comes first," and asked them to deliver "world-class" quality befitting the title of the world's first multistadium combining sports, leisure, and shopping.
