Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon, imported by NARA CELLAR (Chairman Ma Seung-cheol), recorded the top score in the New World red wine category at the 2026 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards and received Best of 2026.
The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is Korea's representative comprehensive liquor competition, now in its 13th year. With the goal of "discovering good domestic drinks, widely promoting them, and supporting a sound drinking culture," ChosunBiz has hosted it annually since 2014.
This year's event drew 260 companies, which submitted a total of 1,118 brands. It is the largest among domestic competitions that cover comprehensive alcoholic beverages. Of these, 449 brands received the grand prize.
Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon is regarded as Chile's first premium wine. It has surpassed cumulative domestic sales of 17 million bottles. It is considered enjoyable for everyone from wine beginners to experts without dividing opinion.
Its deep ruby hue carries a complex blend of aromas such as assorted berries, blackcurrant, cigar box, vanilla, and mint. The freshness of the fruit and the depth of the oak are elegantly integrated. Thanks to moderate weight and precise structure, it drinks well now, and after more than five years of aging it delivers a deeper, richer flavor. It pairs well with red meat dishes such as steak and lamb chops, Bolognese pasta, and a variety of cheeses.
