Burger King said on the 23rd that it will roll out a collaboration product next month that will showcase the "pinnacle of flame-grilled flavor," created with chef You Yong-wook of the "You Yong-wook Barbecue Lab."
Chef You appeared last year on season 2 of the Netflix variety show "Culinary Class Wars" with the nickname "head of the barbecue lab." To realize a meticulous smoking method unique to him, he showcased barbecue menus using an octagonal grill he designed himself, earning recognition among gourmets. The "Imok Smoke Dining" he runs is regarded as a "barbecue mecca," recently making the Michelin Guide Seoul 2026.
Through this collaboration, Burger King expects You's "smoking know-how" to highlight the brand's identity of "flame-grilled patties." You took part in every step of product development to faithfully bring the flavor of "beef ribs," the signature dish at Imok Smoke Dining, to the Whopper, improving its completeness. Earlier, on the 21st, a teaser video featuring You's octagonal grill and thick smoking smoke was released.
A Burger King official said, "We put in the work to perfectly infuse the Whopper with the know-how of a barbecue master recognized by the Michelin Guide," adding, "With deep smoky flavor and overwhelming meat quality, it will set a new standard for premium burgers."
