KFC Korea said on the 4th that it posted record-high sales and operating profit last year.
KFC Korea's sales last year came to 378 billion won, up 29.3% from a year earlier, and operating profit was 24.7 billion won, up 50.9% from a year earlier.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), which shows corporations' profitability and cash generation, was 57.5 billion won, up 24.5% from a year earlier. Average same-store sales also increased by about 25% from the same period a year earlier.
KFC said the results were driven by a mid- to long-term strategy to enhance product competitiveness and elevate the brand experience working organically. It noted that changes aligned with consumer needs across products, marketing, stores and digital, based on brand heritage, and flexible responses to a rapidly changing market environment were effective.
KFC also kept its core chicken-focused menu while supplementing its burger offerings. Burger products showed growth, with about 23 million units sold last year.
This year, KFC plans to diversify drive-thru (DT) and flagship stores to broaden customer touchpoints, extend operating hours and expand 24-hour locations.
