SSG.com said on the 4th it will accelerate its push to lead the online grocery market, driven by upgrades to its delivery system, stronger quality control for fresh foods, and expanded membership benefits.
Marking its 12th anniversary the same day, SSG.com announced a customer declaration outlining these plans. The strategy is to cement its position as the leading platform for grocery shopping.
SSG.com plans to sharply increase volumes for "SSG weekly delivery," processed at more than 100 PP Centers (Picking & Packing), the logistics facilities inside E-MART stores nationwide. It will also subdivide customer pickup time windows by region into as many as five slots to broaden choices.
It will expand bases for "Baro-Quick," a service that delivers products within about an hour inside a 3-kilometer radius of a store, to 90 locations by the second quarter. The aim is to actively capture demand for near-distance instant delivery.
It will also overhaul "Star Delivery," which guarantees the arrival date. By using CJ Logistics' network, customers in areas without dawn delivery will still be able to receive low-temperature items such as agricultural, livestock, and marine products on the promised date.
It will also strengthen quality control for fresh foods. It will apply the same fresh-food management standards as E-MART and operate a "freshness guarantee" that offers unconditional refunds or exchange if freshness is unsatisfactory. The strategy is to extend the trust of offline stores to online.
Membership benefits will also be expanded. "SSG Seven Club," which always accrues 7% of the purchase amount, will broaden choices by adding a plan starting this month that combines access to TVING content for 3,900 won per month, following the basic 2,900 won plan.
