NARA CELLAR said on the 26th that it will officially release in Korea the flagship sparkling wine of Spanish premium cava producer Roger Goulart, "Roger Goulart The Roger Mark II 2017."
According to NARA CELLAR that day, the new product is a special limited wine produced only in years when grapes of outstanding quality are harvested. Only 4,500 bottles were produced, and only 240 bottles were imported into Korea. It will be sold in limited quantities at NARA CELLAR's directly managed stores, "NARA CELLAR Reserve" and "Winepicks."
Roger Goulart is a sparkling wine–specialized winery established in 1882 in the Penedès region near Barcelona, Spain. The Roger Mark II 2017 is graded Gran Reserva and uses only top-quality fruit selected through strict sorting. Less than 50% of the first-press juice was used, followed by secondary fermentation in the bottle and extended bottle aging for 75 months. It is a Brut Nature style with no added sugar.
This vintage is a blend of traditional cava varieties: ▲ Xarel·lo (30%) ▲ Macabeo (20%) ▲ Parellada (20%) ▲ Pinot Noir (15%) ▲ Chardonnay (15%).
Pale golden in color, it shows a continuous stream of delicate bubbles, with aromas of baked pastry and dried flowers from yeast aging. Fruit notes of apple, peach, and pear harmonize, and on the palate, vivid acidity and a soft texture are in balance. It pairs well with deeply flavored dishes such as jamón, aged cheeses, and chicken with herbs. It is also enjoyable on its own.
A NARA CELLAR official said, "The Roger series is the top-tier lineup of Roger Goulart, and Mark II is the second edition following the first vintage 'Mark (2013),'" adding, "It will set a new standard for premium cava and offer consumers a special experience."
