Korea McDonald's said on the 19th that it will adjust prices for some menu items starting on the 20th.
The price adjustment will apply to 35 menu items on an a la carte basis, with an overall average increase of about 2.4%. The range of increases is from a minimum of 100 won to a maximum of 400 won.
The adjustment was made as an unavoidable measure due to the strong dollar and rising materials and supplies and labor costs. Amid rising expense across the board, Korea McDonald's said it reduced the number of affected items and the size of the increases as much as possible to minimize the burden on customers.
It has been about a year since McDonald's last raised prices in March last year. The price of the signature Big Mac a la carte rose 200 won, from 5,500 won to 5,700 won. The Big Mac set was raised from 7,400 won to 7,600 won. The bulgogi burger was also adjusted from 3,600 won to 3,800 won.
Side menu and beverage prices also rose. French fries (M) increased from 2,500 won to 2,600 won, and soft drink (M) increased from 1,900 won to 2,000 won, up 100 won each.
A Korea McDonald's official said, "We will continue to offer key items at reasonable prices through the lunchtime discount platform 'McLunch' while also working through discount platforms such as 'Happy Snack' and discount coupons in the official app so that customers can enjoy high-quality menu items without burden."
