Convenience store CU said on the 19th it will hold a month-end extra promotion called "Stock-up Week," focusing on "stock-up items" (things kept at home for later use) whose demand has recently surged to help stabilize prices. Stock-up Week will run from the 21st through the end of the month, offering discounts and ultra-low prices on about 30 high-demand products such as ramen, soju, fruit, menstrual products, and ice cream.
Among the event products, the items with the biggest benefits are three value-line sanitary pads "Sofy Hangeol" (medium, large, and overnight), which CU is exclusively introducing in the industry. The products will be sold at prices up to 73% lower than similar items.
Ice cream is also on sale. Twelve Natuur ice cream varieties will be discounted 40% when buying two or more starting on the 19th.
Four multi-pack bagged ramen items will be sold at prices cut by up to about 34%. Included are OTOKI Seaweed Soup Ramen, Harim The Miseok Artisan Ramen (spicy), Paldo Co. Rabokki, and Wang Ttukkeong bagged ramen. In addition, OTOKI Yeul Ramen and Snack Noodle small cup will be sold at a 20% discount, while Nongshim Yukgaejang Bowl Noodle, kimchi Bowl Noodle, and Shin Ramyun small cup will be offered exclusively through the convenience store channel.
Alcohol and fruit are also included. Chamisul will be discounted 23% when purchasing by the case, and fruits such as bananas, citrus (6-count), hallabong, cheonhyehyang, and redhyang will be offered at ultra-low prices. In particular, all fruit items are 30% off when paid with Kakao Pay Money between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. through the end of the month.
CU is also expanding discount promotions beyond the month-end event. For sanitary pads, which have recently drawn price concerns, a buy-one-get-one (1+1) deal will run through March for all items except two tampon varieties. An additional 20% discount will be offered when paying with Naver Pay or Toss Pay.
Health functional foods are also continuing ultra-low-price promotions. Eight items including Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co.'s "Gwanjeolhae 10 tablets" and nine items including Chong Kun Dang pharmaceutical's "Diet 10 tablets" are included.
Lee Eun-gwan, head of the CX division at BGF Retail, said, "We are regularly preparing separate discount promotions centered on key daily necessities to ease customers' shopping basket burdens in a high inflation environment," and added, "We will continue to roll out ultra-low-price products and livelihood-stabilizing promotions that align with consumer expectations and government policy directions."
