E-MART said on the 18th it will hold a large-scale discount event focusing on daily necessities and food for a week from the 19th to the 25th. Its strategy is to lower the burden of grocery baskets by putting front and center items with a high consumer impact.
E-MART will run a flat 5,000 won price event on more than 50 types of sanitary pads. If customers pay the full amount with an event card (Mart e, Samsung, KB Kookmin (excluding BC), Shinhan (excluding BC), Hyundai, NH (excluding BC) Woori, Lotte, Jeonbuk Bank), they can purchase them for 5,000 won.
More than 80% of the items at the flat price normally exceed 10,000 won, with an average discount rate over 50%. The flagship product, "Sofy Gentle Cotton for My Body sanitary pads" 3 types, will be sold for 5,000 won—70% off the regular price of 16,900 won—when paid with an event card. Also included are "Healthy My Yejimiin Customized Medium 28P," "Gentle Cotton for My Body Large 32P," "Bodyfit Block Fit Super Long 20P," "Good Feel Original Overnight 24P," and "Whisper Super Absorbent Over 28P."
For the four types of "Good Feel Organic 100% Cotton sanitary pads," buy one and get one free; for the four types of "Good Feel Organic 100% Cotton Airy sanitary pads," customers get 30% off when buying two and 40% off when buying three or more.
For this event, E-MART reduced its own margin and made bulk purchases. The prepared volume is about 250,000 units, three times the usual weekly sales.
Discounts targeting back-to-school demand that picks up after the holiday were also arranged. "Lenovo tablet (Y700 3rd Gen)" and "Samsung Galaxy Book4" will be sold at 529,000 won and 1,249,000 won, respectively, each discounted by 50,000 won when paid with an event card. All Canon and Epson multifunction printers can be purchased at up to 20% off.
There are also discounts on bags and household goods. Parallel-imported bags from JanSport, Eastpak, and Kipling are 30% off when paid with an event card, character tableware is up to 30% off with Shinsegae Points accrual, and Thermos tumblers are up to 40% off. Children's indoor slippers are 30% off when buying two or more pairs. For furniture, the Decoline National Desk storage set is 228,000 won, and the "Back-Friendly Office Chair" is 29,900 won.
Daily necessities and food are also included in the discount event. "One-bite baking soda" 3 types, "Aura fabric softener" 3 types, "Pure Cica body wash/body lotion" 4 types each, and "Listerine (750ml)" 2 types are sold as buy one, get one free. Nine Clean Wrap two-pack promotional items are available for 3,180–9,080 won.
Meat discounts are also running. Branded pork front leg and hind leg (chilled) are 20% off with Shinsegae Points accrual. Three frozen cuts of premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo (brisket point, striploin for shabu, and chuck flap tail for grilling) get 20% off with Shinsegae Points accrual plus an additional 20% off when paying with an E-MART e-Card.
Lee Seok-gyu, who oversees daily necessities at E-MART, said, "We prepared a large-scale event right after the holiday to lead price stability and ensure customers can experience significant benefits," adding, "Beyond price discounts, we will continue structural innovation by preparing new product development that customers want and that can provide practical help."
