Lotte Mart said on the 18th it will run a six-day imported pork promotion, "Kkeutdwae DAY," from the 20th to the 25th. Framed with the concept of "an early SamSam Day" ahead of March 3's "SamSam Day," the large-scale promotion will offer Canadian pork at discounts of up to 50%.
"Kkeutdwae," short for "Kkeutjang Dwaeji" (meaning "ultimate pork"), is an imported pork specialty brand Lotte Mart launched last year. Through a "three-step precision trimming process" involving local manufacturers, the Lotte Fresh Quality Innovation Center, and professional butchers at each store, it achieved consistent quality.
In addition, Lotte Mart operates a management system across the entire distribution process, with the responsible MD (merchandiser) visiting Canada to directly check processing plant hygiene and the condition of raw materials. After the brand launch, Lotte Mart's imported pork sales from June to December last year rose about 100% from a year earlier.
This "Kkeutdwae DAY" is the first discount event covering all items since the brand's launch. Lotte Mart began preparations in December last year and has worked with partners in Canada, and through integrated sourcing with Lotte Super secured about 200 tons (t) of supply, double the previous year. Based on this, it set aggressive prices, it said.
The flagship items, "Kkeutdwae samgyeopsal and shoulder (each 100g/refrigerated/Canadian)," will be sold to L.POINT members at 990 won after a 50% discount. During the same period, "Kkeutdwae pork jowl and back ribs (each 100g/refrigerated/Canadian)" will also be offered at prices 40% off the regular price.
Hadong-gyun, MD on the livestock team for Lotte Mart and Lotte Super, said, "To repay customers for the support they have shown since the launch of the 'Kkeutdwae' brand last year, we planned the first-ever discount event on all items," and added, "We will continue to offer high-quality pork that customers can trust and choose at affordable prices."
