Hitejinro said on the 12th it will lower the alcohol content of its soju "Jinro" from 16% to 15.7%.
That day, Hitejinro said it reflected the trend toward lower alcohol content and demand from consumers who prefer a clean taste. Noting the spread of the "healthy pleasure" habit of enjoying favorite foods while looking after health and the shift toward lower preferred alcohol levels, it said it completed the optimal product quality at 15.7% after consumer surveys and research and testing.
"Jinro" was launched at 16.9% in 2019 and was lowered to 16.5% in Mar. 2021. In Jan. 2023, it changed to "zero sugar," and the alcohol content fell further to 16%.
Earlier, Lotte Chilsung Beverage also lowered the alcohol content of its "Saero" soju from 16% to 15.7% last month. Hitejinro's "Chamisul Fresh" and Lotte Chilsung's "Cheoeum Cheoreom" are 16%.
