CU said on the 9th that after transferring its Half-Price Parcel (formerly Budget Parcel) service to Lotte Global Logistics last month, next-day delivery rates have topped 95%, and usage has increased by more than 40%.
CU Half-Price Parcel used to take up to about six days from drop-off to delivery when it relied on its own logistics network. But since transferring to Lotte Global Logistics on Jan. 1 this year, a "next-day delivery" system has effectively been established, with most parcels arriving the day after pickup. As a result, the company said it has shed the perception of being "cheap but slow" and is strengthening competitiveness as a parcel service that offers both price and speed.
As delivery speed and reliability have improved, customer usage is rising fast. In January, monthly CU Half-Price Parcel usage increased 42.1% from a year earlier. CU said, "Amid the recent surge in secondhand transactions, demand from customers seeking fast and reasonably priced parcel service has flocked to CU Half-Price Parcel."
Throughout February, CU will offer a 200 won discount per shipment, with no weight or frequency limit, to customers who use CU Half-Price Parcel via PocketCU and secondhand transaction platforms "Karrot" and "Bunjang." With the discount, final rates are 1,600 won for up to 500g, 1,900 won for up to 1 kg, and 2,300–2,500 won for up to 5 kg, keeping prices at the lowest level in the industry.
CU is also running a giveaway event. Throughout February, CUpost members who use Half-Price Parcel via in-store parcel equipment or the CUpost web/app will be automatically entered. Winners will receive a 1-don gold bar from Jeokma (1 person), a 0.1 g pure-gold Hojakdo coin (5 people), and a 10,000 won CU mobile gift certificate (100 people).
