Coupang and Coupang Eats Service (CES) will support the digital transition of traditional markets.
Coupang and Coupang Eats said on the 5th that they will promote a digital transition support program to strengthen online sales and delivery competitiveness for merchants at Cheongnyangni General Market.
This support is a follow-up measure to the "traditional market co-prosperity agreement" signed with the National Federation of Merchant Associations last year. The aim is to boost the competitiveness of traditional market merchants amid changes in the retail environment and help expand online sales channels.
Coupang will provide consulting on online sales strategies, including onboarding preparation training for merchants unfamiliar with online sales and professional photography of menus and products.
It also provided about 90,000 eco-friendly packaging containers that can be used for online sales. Going forward, it plans to diversify online sales channels by pursuing cooperation to develop meal kits using specialty products from Cheongnyangni General Market.
Kim Myeong-gyu, head of Coupang Eats Service, said, "The digital transition of traditional markets is an important change for revitalizing local commercial districts," adding, "We will continue practical support so that traditional markets, including Cheongnyangni General Market, can have sustainable competitiveness online."
