Convenience store chains will roll out a range of character-collaboration gift sets for Valentine's Day on the 14th.
GS Retail's convenience store GS25 said on the 1st it will hold the GS25 Sweet Festival for two months from Valentine's Day this month through White Day in March. During the event, it will introduce gift sets using popular character intellectual property (IP) such as Monchhichi, Mongmo, and Charade Show.
It also plans to launch a lineup that caters to customers of various ages, including a gift set featuring the virtual idol "PLAVE," as well as Catch! Teenieping, Ompangi, Ultraman, teddy bears, and red pandas.
CU prepared a special exhibition featuring popular retro-style characters such as Snoopy and Pokémon pixel art. Last year, CU's Valentine's Day sales rose 11.6% from a year earlier, with sales of differentiated character products up 20.5%, driving overall performance.
This year, centered on Pokémon and Peanuts' Snoopy, it will sell not only accessories such as acrylic keyrings, flipbook keyrings, and keycaps, but also reusable bags, padded pouches, and Bluetooth speakers. It will also offer benefits such as Toss Pay Money and account payments.
7-Eleven will introduce about 120 products, including some 20 types featuring Hello Kitty, Wiggle Wiggle, and Inapisquare. In addition to chocolate, it prepared practical items for everyday use such as tumblers, pouches, and keyrings.
E-MART24 will launch exclusive curated set products using the Shuato-ya IP. Shuato-ya is a popular character with more than 50 emoticon series on KakaoTalk. Key collaboration products are gift sets consisting of chocolate, stickers, a hand mirror, and acrylic keyrings.
