The Coupang Partners Association (CPA), a gathering of vendors for Coupang Logistics Service (CLS), said that after Coupang's personal information leak, orders have declined, threatening the livelihoods of frontline delivery drivers.
On the 28th, the CPA issued a statement saying, "For delivery drivers whose daily delivery volume equals their daily income, the recent drop in volume is not a simple concern but a threat to their very livelihood," and "On the ground, people keep saying the daily volume has clearly decreased, fixed costs remain the same, and only income is falling."
The CPA said, "As delivery volume decreases, drivers are bearing a double burden of enduring the same waiting time and labor intensity while their income falls."
The CPA said, "It is necessary to identify problems through investigations and demand improvements, but the longer various investigations drag on, the more the vicious cycle of shrinking orders, declining volume, and falling income continues," adding, "Just as there is a golden time in medical treatment, there is also a golden time for resolving uncertainty surrounding corporations."
It added, "It is also concerning that unverified suspicions and rumors are spreading online, heightening consumer anxiety, which in turn leads to a further drop in orders and worsens livelihood insecurity for delivery drivers," and "We hope the various investigations into Coupang will focus on areas related to the personal information leak and conclude as swiftly as possible."
It also said to Coupang, "Actively cooperate with the investigations to resolve the current confusion as quickly as possible and correct what is wrong," and "What needs improvement should be improved." For delivery drivers suffering livelihood insecurity due to decreased volume, it requested ▲ diversification of shippers ▲ performing parcel collection operations ▲ adjusting delivery fees in line with reduced volume.
