Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, said on the 26th that Baemin's grocery and shopping services, including Baemin B Mart, posted their highest monthly performance on record in December.
Baemin's grocery and shopping is a service that delivers items in about 30 minutes after an order and is operated directly by Baemin. Major domestic retailers, including Baemin B Mart, E-MART, Homeplus Co., GS25 and CU, are on the platform.
Baemin said speed competitiveness and a diverse yet high-quality product lineup were behind last month's record monthly performance. According to Woowa Brothers, total orders for Baemin's grocery and shopping in December rose 15.4% from the previous month. During the same period, the number of new customers increased 30%. In particular, new customers for Baemin B Mart increased about 33%, and the number of visitors to Baemin's grocery and shopping over the past month was about 5.63 million, up 30% from a year earlier.
Accordingly, Baemin B Mart strengthened essential ingredients such as eggs, milk, meat and vegetables, as well as fresh food and daily necessities, to become a grocery platform that customers turn to more often when needed. In fact, in December, sales of milk, a representative grocery item, increased 17.2% from the previous month, and sales of instant noodles rose 14.2%.
Reservation orders for Baemin B Mart are also on the rise with the launch of next-day scheduled delivery. Same-day scheduled orders in the 1st–2nd weeks of January increased 23% compared with the 4th–5th weeks of December, and next-day scheduled orders jumped 103%.
Baemin plans to expand product categories along with continued infrastructure expansion to strengthen its quick commerce segment. Lee Hyo-jin, head of commerce at Woowa Brothers, said, "We will reshape the current grocery and shopping landscape with deliveries in around 30 minutes as well as scheduled deliveries timed to customers' preferred hours."
