CJ CheilJedang joined hands with chefs from Netflix's "Culinary Class Wars" to showcase a range of products.
On the 18th, CJ CheilJedang said it will launch a special edition of the Netflix variety show "Culinary Class Wars: Cooking Class War." The collaboration includes 33 products in total and features chefs Choi Kang-rok, Yun Nara, and Choi Yu-gang from season 2, as well as Kwon Sung-jun, the winner of season 1. The season 2 chefs reportedly took part from the planning stage, first proposing their signature menus and secret ingredients or actively sharing their secret recipes.
With Choi Kang-rok, the winner of season 2, it will introduce five kinds of Gourmet udon, including seaweed udon, kimchi udon, and curry udon. The Gourmet udon uses bonito simmered through a hot-water extraction process for a deep, rich broth, and features noodles about 20% thicker than standard udon for enhanced texture. It will also roll out two kinds of Baeksul 10-Min Cook braising sauces (Japanese soy braising sauce and gochujang braising sauce).
Chef Yun Nara, who appeared as "Brewmaster Yun," took part in developing Korean menus including Bibigo soup dishes, kimchi, tteokbokki, and Hetbahn Cupbahn. Among them, dishes such as pollock soup and zucchini stew, which Yun presented in the Culinary Class Wars 2 competition, have been reborn as Bibigo soup dishes. Dishes such as aged kimchi and tuna rice bowl and shishito pepper and pork rice bowl, inspired by items actually sold at "Haebangchon Yunjudang," will be available as Hetbahn Cupbahn.
With chef Choi Yu-gang of the Cheongdam-dong Chinese fine-dining restaurant "Kojacha," it will introduce four kinds of Gourmet Chinese dishes (jjajang, jjambbong, tangsuyuk, and yuringi), two Hetbahn Cupbahn Chinese options (malatang rice and mala xiangguo rice bowl), and Gourmet malatang noodles, offering authentic Chinese menus that can be easily enjoyed at home.
In Mar., it also plans to launch seven new sauce products in collaboration with Kwon Sung-jun, the "Napoli Mafia" and season 1 winner, and Choi Kang-rok.
A CJ CheilJedang official said, "We introduced these special products in the hope that people can easily enjoy the dishes of the chefs from 'Culinary Class Wars,' which gained huge popularity worldwide, at home," adding, "We will continue to offer more diverse culinary experiences to consumers through even newer and more varied products."
