Dong-A Otsuka said on the 14th that it received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award in recognition of its contributions to the "sports field heat-related illness prevention campaign," carried out with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Sports Safety Foundation.
Over the past year, Dong-A Otsuka has carried out practical, prevention-focused activities centered on sports venues, including airing public service announcements to prevent heat-related illnesses, running on-site experiential education programs, and distributing heat wave response manuals. It also has helped raise public awareness of heat wave safety and prevent heat-related illness accidents at sports sites.
The main activity targets were spectators (KBO All-Star Game, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC home games), students (Futsal Heroes), recreational sports (Daejeon Citizens Recreational Sports Festival), older adults (Seoul Park Golf Festival), people with disabilities (Gyeonggi-do Sports for the Disabled Competition), and elite athletes and coaches.
Park Cheol-ho, president and CEO of Dong-A Otsuka, said, "This award is meaningful in that it recognizes our aim to provide practical help for the safety of both spectators and participants who enjoy sports through ongoing on-site activities, not a one-off campaign," and added, "We will continue activities to create a safe sports environment by taking into account the characteristics of all sports sites, from recreational sports to sports for the disabled and professional sports."
