Genesis BBQ Group, which operates the chicken franchise BBQ, said on the 13th that it donated 1 billion won to Chosun University as a development fund.
According to Genesis BBQ Group, a ceremony to deliver a development fund to strengthen the university's educational competitiveness and foster future talent was held recently at the main building of Chosun University, "Cheongchuleorum." Chairman Yoon Hong-geun, Vice Chairman Yoon Kyung-joo, and President Park Ji-man, among other key executives of Genesis BBQ Group, attended the ceremony. From Chosun University, Chair Kim Yi-su and President Kim Chun-sung attended.
Chosun University, founded in 1946 with the participation of about 72,000 citizens centered on the Gwangju–South Jeolla region, is Korea's first private university established by citizens and has grown together with the local community. This donation of a development fund carries the meaning of inheriting the founding spirit of a citizen-founded university and putting into practice the value of giving back to society through education.
The 1 billion won development fund delivered by Genesis BBQ Group will be used to expand Chosun University's education and research infrastructure and improve the educational environment, as well as for educational programs to cultivate talent with global competencies and for projects to foster future scholars.
Chairman Yoon said, "I hope this donation will become solid nourishment for Chosun University as it moves toward a greater future through change and innovation."
