Aekyung Industrial Co. said on the 6th it will voluntarily recall six products in which a substance banned for use in oral products was found. The products were manufactured by Domy in China and imported and sold by Aekyung Industrial Co.
The products subject to recall are "2080 Basic Toothpaste," "2080 Daily Care Toothpaste," "2080 Smart Care Plus Toothpaste," "2080 Classic Care Toothpaste," "2080 Triple Effect Alpha Fresh Toothpaste," and "2080 Triple Effect Alpha Strong Toothpaste."
Aekyung Industrial Co. said that in December last year, its own testing confirmed that a trace amount of triclosan, a preservative, had been mixed in, and it immediately halted import and shipment of the products and reported the recall decision to the Ministery of Food and Drug Safety.
Consumers who have the products can receive a full refund of the purchase price by applying through Aekyung Industrial Co.'s dedicated toothpaste recall customer center or website, regardless of manufacturing date, place of purchase, purchase date, whether used, whether personally purchased, or whether they have a receipt.
An Aekyung Industrial Co. official said, "All toothpaste products other than those subject to this recall are produced domestically and have no issues with quality or ingredients."
