Convenience store CU said on the 5th it will expand its ultra-fresh beer pickup service, which allows customers to receive beer within a week of brewing.
It is a service in which customers order products on the Pocket CU app's CU bar and pick them up at an offline store. About 1,700 types of alcohol can be picked up at a store designated by the customer.
By minimizing distribution immediately after brewing, beer freshly produced at the plant is delivered directly to stores nationwide within five days. CU said that compared with regular canned beer, the production date is about 100 days earlier, allowing consumers to enjoy beer with richer aroma and carbonation.
The CAS Corporation fresh pickup product that began on July sold nearly 100,000 cans in a week, and the fresh pickup product of the craft beer "First Love IPA" sold out its prepared stock of 12,000 cans in 10 days.
CU plans to introduce ultra-fresh pickup beer services with various manufacturers this year in response to customer interest. This month, it will sell two options of CAS Corporation fresh beer: 12 cans of 350ml (19,800 won) and 24 cans (32,900 won). Preorders run through on the 2nd of next month, and pickups will be available starting on the 6th.
It will also run a monthly ultra-fresh craft beer pickup project. The aim is to introduce signature products from small breweries to consumers through fresh pickup. This month, it will release "Saenghwal Beer New England IPA," "First Love IPA," and "First Love Two Hearts."
Starting in February, it plans to collaborate with beer-focused YouTuber "Myeongpum Maekdeok" to offer products made at breweries across the country as fresh beer. The first lineup is "Brewery Eulreul."
