E-Land Group will separate the distribution and dining business institutional sectors that it had been operating in an integrated manner.
E-Land Group said on Jan. 2 that it will introduce a BG (Business Group) management system to the distribution and dining business institutional sectors. Previously, the two business institutional sectors were operated together, but the company plans to split them into Distribution BG and Food BG to leverage specialization.
Chae Sung-won was appointed as the leader to head the Distribution BG. Chae will oversee urban outlet chains such as NC and NewCore and the broader portfolio of distribution fashion brands. After serving in E-Land Retail's strategy planning office and as head of the China distribution subsidiary, Chae is credited with driving top-line growth and profitability improvements in a global distribution environment. The safety management institutional sector will remain under the leadership of Cho Il-sung.
Hwang Sung-yoon will oversee the Food BG, which spans the distribution hyper institutional sector including Kim's Club and Farm & Food and the E-Land Eats dining business institutional sector. The Food BG plans to focus on strengthening product competitiveness and operational efficiency based on synergies between distribution and dining.
An E-Land Group official said, "The appointment of new CEOs and the transition to the BG system are part of structural improvements to respond to the challenges facing offline distribution," adding, "We will strengthen expertise in each business area to build sustainable competitiveness."
