Chief Executive Lim Jeong-bae of Daesang Corp. marked the company's 70th anniversary this year, saying, "Let's make 2026 the year we prepare to become a '100-year corporations,'" and called for intensive restructuring to leap forward over the next 30 years.
In a New Year's address on Jan. 2, Lim said, "I want us to take pride in and celebrate the achievements and results we have all made together over the past 70 years," but added, "In today's uncertain business environment, we cannot simply look back on past accomplishments and throw a leisurely party."
Lim said, "This year, while Seulgi overcoming the difficulties of the external environment we face, we must also push ourselves to carry out intensive restructuring to create the momentum to leap forward again over the next 30 years."
Lim said, "Last year, we reorganized our structure so that HQ, the R&D center, each business BU (business unit) and CIC (company-in-company), and local subsidiaries could closely collaborate and effectively integrate internal capabilities," adding, "Now let's focus in earnest on raising our brand awareness in the global market and boosting the competitiveness of our products."
Lim also said, "This year, Daesang Corp. will decisively halt business areas that do not align with our strategic direction or do not contribute to revenue through a cold-eyed self-diagnosis," and added, "We will actively introduce AI (artificial intelligence) into daily work to support improvements in our employees' work efficiency."
Lim went on, "The question, 'How do my activities and those of our organization contribute to our corporations' revenue?,' and the on-the-ground ideas to improve unproductive activities and practices will come together to become the driving force behind Daesang Corp.'s profitable growth."
Finally, Lim emphasized, "I earnestly hope that this year Daesang Corp. will establish itself as a corporations that makes a leap in the global market through a speedy business transition, while also becoming a corporations that grows solidly from within," adding, "I will do my utmost to create opportunities for you to challenge yourselves and grow as global talent."
