Lotte Mart said on the 30th it will hold a New Year discount event, "Tongkeun Day," from the 1st to the 4th of next month. Tongkeun Day is an event that offers benefits at rock-bottom levels across all categories, including seasonal fresh and processed foods and everyday essentials.
Starting in 2026, Lotte Mart will run Tongkeun Day as a regular discount event once a month. Under the slogan "smart shopping routine," it has standardized the large-scale events that were held only at certain times such as long holiday periods, shifting to a structure that lets customers predict discount timings and plan monthly grocery shopping. Tongkeun Day will take place simultaneously each month at all Lotte Mart and Lotte Super stores, Lotte Mart MAXX, and Lotte Mart Zetta.
For the first Tongkeun Day of 2026, Lotte Mart will offer four flagship food items—braised short ribs, grade 1 premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo sirloin, end-cut pork belly and shoulder, and live king crab—at half price. It will also offer rice cake soup rice cakes, frozen dumplings, and eggs, the ingredients for rice cake soup, at low prices. In addition, there will be abundant promotions for fruits and vegetables such as tangerines, strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli, and kohlrabi, as well as for processed foods.
It will also sell the byeong-o year–themed "1865 Cabernet Sauvignon Jektoma Edition" to L.POINT members for around 20,000 won. During the event period, customers who spend 100,000 won or more in a day will receive a "Tongkeun calendar" with monthly discount coupons, among other New Year events.
Kang Hye-won, head of marketing for Lotte Mart and Lotte Super, said, "Tongkeun Day aims to establish itself as Lotte Mart and Lotte Super's signature event that reduces the burden of everyday grocery shopping for customers," adding, "Starting with the first Tongkeun Day of the New Year, we will continue to expand benefits that customers can feel every month."
