Kim Ji-hoon, head of the chicken franchise Genesis BBQ, recently stepped down. It comes five months after being appointed in July.
According to the food industry on the 26th, Kim, a former executive from CJ CheilJedang, was appointed the new head of Genesis BBQ in July but resigned for personal reasons.
Kim, the former head, is a professional manager who built a career in global business. After graduating from Seoul National University with a degree in aesthetics and completing an MBA at Indiana University in the United States, Kim worked for about 20 years at S-1 and CJ Group. At CJ CheilJedang, Kim led the food export business and oversaw overseas operations overall, raising expectations as the person to drive BBQ's expansion into foreign markets.
Genesis BBQ has maintained a co-CEO structure since 2009 in which the owner-manager and a professional manager share the top post, but has been seen as replacing professional managers relatively quickly. Kim's predecessor, former head Shim Kwan-seop, also stepped down after one year in office, and before that, former head Chung Seung-uk likewise served only one year.
