CJ CheilJedang said on the 24th it officially launched the health snack brand "Crispy."
According to CJ CheilJedang that day, the new products come in four varieties: ▲ Crispy Chips Herb Salt flavor ▲ Crispy Chips Spam flavor ▲ Crispy Popcorn Herb Salt flavor ▲ Crispy Popcorn Spam flavor. CJ CheilJedang collaborated with Baeksul and Spam.
Crispy Chips is a high-protein snack that is baked, not fried. It uses broken rice that cannot be used to make Hetbahn. Crispy Chips Herb Salt flavor adds herbal notes such as oregano and thyme to a light rice chip, while Crispy Chips Spam flavor highlights Spam's signature nutty and savory taste.
Crispy Popcorn is made using the kettle method and uses "butterfly corn," a popcorn-dedicated corn, to create a texture that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. CJ CheilJedang said Crispy Popcorn Herb Salt flavor adds herbal notes and a nutty taste to the popcorn, while Crispy Popcorn Spam flavor differentiates its taste from popcorn products sold on the market.
"Crispy Chips" is the first project discovered through CJ CheilJedang's in-house food venture program "INNO 100," and it launched in April 2022 based on ideas from Millennials and Gen Z employees. It entered overseas markets including the United States, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, as well as Korea, and surpassed cumulative sales of 2 million bags through last month.
A CJ CheilJedang official said, "We will continue to expand the lineup of the health snack brand Crispy, which considers taste, nutrition, and sustainability to meet consumer demand and expectations."
