City Duty Free said on the 24th that it will carry out a project with about 200 small and midsize brands to strengthen its role as a K-beauty platform inside Incheon International Airport.
City Duty Free is currently showcasing about 200 indie brands through a K-beauty select shop in its Incheon Airport store. About 80% of sales at the K-beauty select shop come from foreign customers.
The project was planned to discover domestic small brands with strong product competitiveness but relatively low global recognition and introduce them to the global market. The company also plans to expand customer touchpoints with a beauty lucky box designed to let shoppers try each brand's signature products.
In particular, reflecting the growing K-beauty boom in global markets, it strengthened brand curation. It will offer specially made K-beauty kits focused on hero products that have spread by word of mouth among overseas customers to those who make a purchase.
City Duty Free plans to go beyond a simple duty-free sales space and establish itself as a "K-beauty gateway" where foreign tourists are the first to encounter Korea's latest beauty trends. Ahn Hye-jin, CEO of City Duty Free, said, "We will faithfully play a platform role so that small and midsize brands with potential can grow into global stars, breaking away from a market led by large companies," adding, "We will deliver the true value of K-beauty to travelers from around the world visiting Incheon Airport."
