Gmarket said on the 18th that it will launch a weekend regular promotion for "Star Delivery" called "delivery guaranteed even on weekends" to meet rising weekend shopping demand. It will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting on the 19th.
Star Delivery is a fast shipping service offered for items stocked at the Dongtan Mega Center operated by Gmarket and for some open-market-style (3P) sellers' products. It currently applies to about 160,000 items across 14 categories. Except for remote and island regions, orders placed before 8 p.m. are guaranteed to arrive the next day, and if delivery is delayed, compensation is provided with Smile Cash.
The "delivery guaranteed even on weekends" regular promotion will curate three special-deal items each week, focused on daily necessities and processed foods, and sell them at discounted prices. Discounts are also offered for first-time Star Delivery customers. Among "Universe Club" membership customers who are first-time Star Delivery buyers, a 20% off coupon is offered, and general members receive a 15% off coupon. In addition, a 5% discount is offered for card payments on select items.
A Gmarket official said, "Since we began seven-day-a-week delivery service, day-of-week demand fluctuations have eased," and added, "with this newly launched weekend promotion, we hope more customers can experience Gmarket's fast shipping, delivery-guaranteed service, Star Delivery."
