Harold Rogers, Coupang's acting chief, said on the 17th that he would prepare and announce a responsible compensation plan in connection with the large-scale personal information leak.
Rogers, the acting chief, said this during a hearing of the Science. ICT. Broadcasting. and Communications Committee at the National Assembly, responding to a question from Rep. Hwang Jeong-a of the Democratic Party of Korea, who asked why no compensation plan for customers had been released, by noting that the company was reviewing a compensation plan internally.
Rogers said the company was faithfully responding to investigations by several regulators and cooperating to understand the situation. He added that the company would prepare and announce a responsible compensation plan along with the results of the investigations.
Hwang also asked whether the use of the term "exposure" in the first notice about the information leak reflected the intention of Bom Kim, chair of Coupang Inc.
In response, Rogers, the acting chief, said that at the time of the initial announcement, the incident was viewed as an exposure in technical terms, so it was announced that way, and that after confirming the specific details, the company corrected the term to leak.
