Cheong-O SW, an affiliate of Cheong-O DPK, the operator of Domino's Pizza, said on the 15th that it has been selected as the new domestic master franchise (MF) operator for the U.S. sandwich franchise brand "Subway (SUBWAY)." It will oversee the domestic business with authority over the expansion of existing Subway stores and overall operations management.
Cheong-O SW is an affiliate of Cheong-O DPK, which has successfully operated Domino's Pizza in Korea for about 35 years since 1990 in the Korean pizza franchise market. The company plans to leverage its accumulated franchise operating know-how and strategy to take Subway a step forward in the domestic franchise market.
Cheong-O SW plans to drive operational innovation to respond to the rapidly changing digital environment, while improving consumer satisfaction by developing menus that align with the healthy pleasure trend. It also said it will strengthen practical support for franchisees to further solidify the brand's competitiveness.
Joseph Hsu, president for Asia-Pacific at Subway, said, "We are pleased to have signed a contract with Cheong-O SW as the master franchise partner for Subway in Korea," adding, "Based on Cheong-O DPK's leadership and expertise, we expect Subway to take a step forward in the Korean market and to strengthen and develop its position in the Korean sandwich market."
A Cheong-O SW official said, "Through this master franchise agreement, we will build Subway into a brand that grows further," adding, "We will work to elevate it by providing Korean consumers with positive experiences of the brand and creating long-term value for franchise owners."
