After the Coupang personal information leak, the number of users, which had fluctuated, returned to its previous level in nine days.
According to IGAworks Mobile Index, a data tech company, as of the 8th of this month, Coupang's estimated daily active users (DAU) stood at 15,919,359, a level similar to before the leak.
Coupang's user numbers moved between 15.7 million and 16.25 million during the week before the leak. But immediately after the leak, on the 1st, the figure rose to 17.98 million. From the 4th, the number of users fell to 16.95 million, and on the 6th it declined again to 15.94 million.
It was interpreted that, right after the Coupang leak, more users accessed the Coupang application (app) to check login histories, read notices and announcements, and change passwords as part of system checks.
An analysis also said users could not find alternative platforms outside Coupang. Consumers accustomed to dawn Rocket Delivery and frequent discount events continue to use Coupang due to the so-called "lock-in effect (customer lock-in effect)."
