Coupang said on the 10th that Chief Executive Park Dae-jun resigned in connection with the recent personal information leak.
Park said, "I am deeply sorry for disappointing the public over the recent personal information (leak) incident," and "I take full responsibility for the occurrence of this incident and the response, and I have decided to step down from all positions."
Following Park's resignation, Coupang's U.S. parent company, Coupang Inc, appointed Harold Rogers, Coupang Inc chief administrative officer and general counsel (CAO & General Counsel), as Coupang's acting CEO to actively manage the fallout and ease customer concerns over the incident.
Acting CEO Rogers plans to focus on alleviating customer anxiety stemming from the personal information leak, managing the internal and external crisis, and stabilizing the organization. Accordingly, U.S.-based Coupang Inc plans to take an active role in addressing the fallout from the personal information leak.
Coupang said, "We deeply apologize for causing concern due to the personal information leak," adding, "We will strengthen information security to prevent a recurrence and do our best to restore trust."
