Lotteria, the burger franchise brand of Lotte GRS, said on the 8th that it opened its first store in Malaysia on the 5th.
The first Malaysia Lotteria store opened on the first floor of The Curve Mall, a large shopping mall in Petaling Jaya, a commercial, residential, and industrial hub west of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
At the opening ceremony on the 5th were Chief Executive Lee Won-taek of Lotte GRS; Executive Director Lee Kwon-hyung of the Global Business Division; Commercial Attaché Han Yong-jae of the Embassy of Korea in Malaysia; Serai Group co-founder and Chair Najib Hamid; and Director Lina Abdullah, among other key figures.
Attending the opening ceremony, Chief Executive Lee said, "The first store in Malaysia goes beyond the meaning of simply being the first location and will serve as a model that presents a growth direction in the Malaysian market," adding, "Based on close cooperation with Serai Group, we will work together to establish the brand and achieve sustainable growth."
The first Malaysia Lotteria store is about 71 pyeong with 128 seats on the first floor of The Curve Mall. It offers a total of nine burgers, including the Ria bulgogi and Ria shrimp, three chicken items, and five desserts, mirroring the menu in Korea.
Lotte GRS said it secured trust from local customers by addressing the key task for this first Malaysia store—aligning with the dietary characteristics of Malaysian Muslims—through securing halal-certified materials and supplies suppliers.
Lotte GRS and partner "Serai Group" plan to work together to stabilize the first store and expand market share, aiming to operate 30 stores in Malaysia under Lotteria over the next five years.
Following the opening of the first Malaysia store, Lotte GRS is set to open its first Singapore store in '26 and plans to further expand the foundation of its global business into Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Myanmar, and Laos.
A Lotte GRS official said, "Based on the foundation of the Lotteria business in Vietnam, we plan to continue pioneering new markets in Southeast Asia and expand our global business capabilities, including operating the first U.S. store, to continue growing as a K-franchise corporations," adding, "For the successful establishment and expansion of the first Malaysia Lotteria store, we will work closely with our partner to expand in the local market."
