ACE BED is steadily investing in an organization with research capabilities to scientifically identify and objectively evaluate bed performance.
According to the retail industry on the 27th, the ACE BED Engineering Research Institute additionally obtained recognition in October for the chemical field of KOLAS for the "fiber–formaldehyde measurement test." With this, ACE BED was officially recognized for being able to assess formaldehyde content in all types of textile materials against accredited standards.
The ACE BED Engineering Research Institute, established in 1991, is the first bed-focused research facility in Korea. In 2006, it received the industry's first recognition as an international accredited testing laboratory from the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards. In 2022, it passed Germany's DRRR proficiency assessment in dynamics and, in 2024, the Netherlands' IIS proficiency assessment in chemistry.
An ACE BED official said, "We not only conduct direct performance tests using advanced equipment such as durability testers, polysomnography, and four-axis load testers, but also analyze optimal sleep conditions through load distribution by body type and brain waves and electrocardiograms observed during sleep."
The ACE BED Engineering Research Institute also operates as an international accredited testing laboratory. To do so, it needs KOLAS accreditation administered by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme under the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards. This system examines whether testing, inspection, and certification bodies are operated in accordance with laws and International Organization for Standardization standards. It means the state officially guarantees that an institution has the quality system and technical competence to conduct tests to international standards.
An ACE BED official said, "The test results of the ACE BED Engineering Research Institute are accepted in major countries, including the United States, Europe, and Japan, and the institute is the only body that can conduct tests on mattresses typically used by adults in households and issue reports."
