Hotel Shilla will turn all three of its hotel brands (Shilla Hotel, Shilla Monogram, Shilla Stay) into eco-friendly hotels.
Hotel Shilla said on the 19th that it signed a business agreement with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), a global eco-friendly certification body, to establish an environmentally friendly operating system that meets international standards. The system will be applied to all hotel brands, making this the first among corporations operating hotels in Asia.
Through this agreement, Hotel Shilla will establish management standards for 13 detailed items, including energy savings, expanded recycling, and the use of eco-friendly products. It will conduct ongoing on-site checks of hotel operations and carry out regular evaluations in line with international standards.
Starting this year with Seoul Shilla Hotel and Jeju Shilla Hotel obtaining Green Key certification, the goal is for all 20 hotels at home and abroad to earn Green Key certification. Green Key is an international certification awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, together with the U.N. World Tourism Organization, to eco-friendly and sustainable lodging facilities.
The Foundation for Environmental Education, which signed the business agreement with Hotel Shilla, is an international certification body established in 1981. It operates education programs on eco-friendly sustainable development and environmental protection in cooperation with more than 80 member countries worldwide.
