BGF Retail, the operator of the CU convenience store chain, said on the 18th that it obtained certification for ISO 37001, the international standard for anti-bribery management systems.
ISO 37001 is an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving anti-bribery management systems. It stipulates the requirements for corporations to prevent and effectively manage bribery within their organizations.
To obtain ISO 37001 certification, BGF Retail formed a TFT with a total of 11 key related departments, including management diagnosis, HR, general affairs and finance, starting in June, and analyzed and assessed bribery risks related to the characteristics of each department's work. It also completed an effective system by measuring the effectiveness of control measures for each risk, setting improvement targets and establishing a monitoring framework.
In September, it reviewed the operational effectiveness of the system through an internal audit and identified 20 improvement items across the 11 departments. Based on this, it prepared a management review report and carried out direct review and confirmation by the executives.
Through this certification, BGF Retail expects to prevent organizational bribery risks in advance with a systematic anti-bribery system and to enhance credibility among key stakeholders at home and abroad.
Min Seung-bae, CEO of BGF Retail, said, "Trust with an increasingly diverse range of stakeholders, including domestic customers, franchise owners and partner companies, as well as overseas partners, is BGF Retail's most important asset," and added, "Going forward, BGF Retail will do its best to enhance corporations credibility by operating an advanced management system that meets global standards."
