Starbucks Korea said on the 18th that it made a special donation of the entire August revenue from its Dongnimmun Station store and Hwangudan store as housing support funds for descendants of independence patriots.
On the 14th, ahead of Patriots and Veterans Day, Starbucks held a delivery ceremony at the Starbucks Dongnimmun Station store and delivered donations to descendants of independence patriots facing financial hardship through the Korea National Council on Social Welfare.
The ceremony was held with Kim Ji-young, Head of Team of the Starbucks Korea ESG team; Kim Sang-hee, Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs' Livelihood Stabilization Division; Kim Min-woo, head of the sharing project promotion team at the Korea National Council on Social Welfare; and Starbucks Korea partners in attendance.
In August, marking the 80th anniversary of Liberation, Starbucks, in addition to its ongoing Community Store fund-raising activities, pledged to separately set aside the entire August revenue from Community Store No. 6 (Dongnimmun Station) and No. 9 (Hwangudan) to donate to descendants of independence patriots living in economic hardship.
Starbucks noted that, apart from the activity of creating a fund by allocating 300 won per item sold at Community Stores, this is the first time it has separately donated the entire revenue.
Starbucks also installed separate customer notices at the Dongnimmun Station and Hwangudan stores stating that the entire August revenue would be donated, so that more customers could participate in this special donation effort and remember the sacrifice of the patriots.
Meanwhile, Starbucks currently operates a total of 11 profit-sharing Community Stores. Among them, Store No. 6 "Dongnimmun Station" and Store No. 9 "Hwangudan" use a portion of their revenue for scholarships for descendants of independence patriots and for a national heritage protection fund, respectively.
