ORION said on the 13th that third-quarter sales came to 828.9 billion won and operating profit to 137.9 billion won. Compared with the same period last year, sales rose about 7% and operating profit increased 0.6%. Among domestic and overseas business sites, growth at the Russia subsidiary stood out.
The company said sales grew as product competitiveness was strengthened and a growth-channel-focused sales strategy proved effective amid continued global economic slowdown and weak consumer sentiment. Despite manufacturing cost pressures, improved production efficiency and expense optimization helped defend profitability.
By subsidiary, the Korea unit posted sales of 282.6 billion won, up 4.3%, and operating profit of 42.1 billion won, down 3.8%. Operating profit fell as a one-off expense of 5.4 billion won related to the voluntary recall of Cham Bungeo-ppang was reflected.
The China subsidiary reported sales of 337.3 billion won, up 4.7%, and operating profit of 67 billion won, up 5.4%. In the same period, Vietnam recorded sales of 120.5 billion won, down 1%, and operating profit of 21.3 billion won, down 10.7%.
For the Russia subsidiary, sales rose 44.7% to 89.6 billion won and operating profit increased 26.9% to 11.7 billion won. The jump reflects rapidly growing local demand for products such as Choco Pie Watermelon, Fresh Pie, and Al-maeng-i Jelly.
Recently, the utilization rate at ORION's Russia subsidiary plant has exceeded 120% as local product demand surges. The company plans to push ahead without delay with the construction of a new plant, aiming for completion in 2027 to meet demand.
Sales at the India subsidiary climbed 38.7% to 8.4 billion won. In its fifth year in the local market, the company is expanding shelf presence at traditional retailers in the northeast region and sustaining growth through region-specific sales strategies and the launch of products priced at 20 rupees (about 330 won).
