The flagship store of Kkanbu Chicken, which drew attention for the "chicken and beer meeting" of Jensen Huang, Nvidia chief executive officer (CEO), Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, has gone into temporary closure because it could not handle the flood of orders.
According to Kkanbu Chicken on the 2nd, Kkanbu Chicken's first store, "Kkanbu Chicken Seongbok branch" in Suji District, Yongin, Gyeonggi, will be temporarily closed for the two weekend days on the 1st and 2nd.
Through a store notice, the Seongbok branch said, "Due to more orders than expected, we will temporarily close from Saturday the 1st to Sunday the 2nd to provide smooth service," and added, "We apologize for the inconvenience," and "We will return with better quality and service."
Kkanbu Chicken drew attention as Huang, the CEO, Chairman Lee, and Chairman Chung held a "chicken and beer meeting" on the 30th of last month at Kkanbu Chicken's Samsung branch in Gangnam District, Seoul. Huang, the CEO, who personally chose the venue, said, "I like enjoying chicken and beer with friends," and added, "Kkanbu is the perfect place."
Also, as they finished the chicken-and-beer meeting and came out, they told citizens, "It's delicious here," and "Everyone, eat here." They even personally handed out chicken to citizens who had skipped dinner to wait to see them.
Interest in Kkanbu Chicken surged after that day's chicken meeting. At one point, Kkanbu Chicken rose to No. 1 in real-time popular search terms on major delivery apps such as Baemin and Coupang Eats. Some stores, unable to handle the deluge of orders, shut off their delivery apps entirely.
