Walnut cookies from Buchang Confectionery, the official dessert brand of APEC 2025, have been drawing attention as they continue to appear on major meeting tables.
According to the food industry on the 31st, walnut cookies from Buchang Confectionery, part of F&B corporation FG, were served at all meetings of this APEC's key agenda, including ▲ CSOM (Concluding Senior Officials' Meeting) ▲ AMM (Ministerial Meeting on Foreign Affairs and Trade) ▲ APEC CEO Summit (Asia-Pacific Business Forum). Buchang Confectionery's walnut cookies are known as "Lee Jang-woo walnut cookies."
An APEC preparatory committee official said, "We wanted to present a dessert that carries Korea's sincerity and class," and noted, "In particular, at the two Minister-level meetings held in Incheon, it was striking to see delegates take them to their seats and personally recommend them to colleagues."
Buchang Confectionery is a brand rebuilt by FG CEO Lee Kyung-won, the maternal grandson, who restored a traditional confectionery shop in the Gyeongju area that had closed in the 1990s. Actor Lee Jang-woo served as a promotional model, boosting its popularity. For APEC, it presented a product that reduced sweetness compared with the existing version and enhanced the nutty flavor.
FG's "APEC summit limited edition," produced in collaboration with the National Museum of Korea's cultural product brand MU:DS, sold out its first batch immediately after release and the second batch is now on sale. The limited edition includes MU:DS' signature items such as the "Smile of Silla pouch," "tiger tray," and "celadon keyring."
A Buchang Confectionery official said, "At business tables as well, heads of famous overseas corporations tasted the walnut cookies and frequently recommended them to colleagues," and added, "It is gratifying to see Korea's ordinary walnut cookies shine on the diplomatic stage."
