Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong's jacket from the "chimaek meeting" with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun sold out in a day.
According to the industry on the 31st, they met at a Kkanbu Chicken store near Samseong Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:40 p.m. the day before. Lee wore an ash (gray) faux-suede blouson (jumper) made by Lancsmere, the premium line of Galaxy, a fashion brand of Samsung C&T.
According to the Samsung C&T fashion institutional sector, the blouson Lee wore the day before sold out of the remaining stock on this day. The product was sold at a regular price of 890,000 won at Lancsmere and Galaxy offline stores and on SSF Shop, the in-house online mall of the Samsung C&T fashion institutional sector.
A Samsung C&T official said, "Lancsmere is a high-end brand, so it doesn't usually sell much online, but today it was ranked No. 2 among popular brands on SSF Shop all day," adding, "People who came to see this product also bought other items from the brand, pushing sales to more than 10 times Lancsmere's usual daily revenue."
Lee is also known to frequently wear Samsung C&T brand products such as Galaxy and Beanpole. Previously, the Lancsmere golf vest he wore on a business trip to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in Feb. last year and the Beanpole Golf padded vest he wore on a business trip to Vietnam in 2022 both sold out early.
Lee also boosted brand recognition by wearing Under Armour shirts and an Arc'teryx padded jacket, which were unfamiliar in Korea at the time.
Meanwhile, in this "chimaek meeting," Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun was said to have worn a goose-down vest by the Italian luxury brand Brunello Cucinelli. The brand's padded vests are sold in the 5 million to 6 million won range. CEO Jensen Huang wore his usual Tom Ford leather jacket and a black short-sleeve T-shirt by Burberry.
