Global Foodtech corporations Gopizza is accelerating the spread of K-food in the Indian market, building on the performance of the Korean-style fast-food dining brand "gochujang."
According to the retail industry on the 28th, Gopizza is preparing to open the third Gochujang store in Nov. Gopizza opened the first Gochujang store at Nexus Koramangala Mall in Bengaluru, India, in Aug., then added a second location. It plans to open a total of four stores by the end of the year and 20 stores by next year.
Gochujang is based on the taste of Korea's representative seasoning, gochujang. It builds a localization strategy by adding spiciness to popular items such as ramen and hot dogs and incorporating Indian ingredients. The top-selling items—condog, buldak paneer balls, and buldak chicken balls—were created by combining Korean bunsik with paneer, India's traditional cheese.
Gopizza is establishing corporations and branches in each country it enters to improve understanding of local markets, while pursuing a diversification strategy that extends from "pizza–dessert–Korean cuisine."
A Gopizza official said, "With the spread of K-content, preferences for Korea's spicy flavors and bunsik are rapidly expanding, so we are proposing a new Korean food experience that local consumers can enjoy without burden." The official added, "Following pizza, we will expand into Korean cuisine in the global market and build Gopizza's unique brand world."
