Seven-Eleven said on the 26th it will newly unveil the flagship store "New Wave Myeong-dong" in Myeong-dong, Seoul. New Wave Plus is a store that further improves on the next-generation concept franchise model "New Wave," which Seven-Eleven rolled out in October last year.
New Wave Myeong-dong was built as a store that strengthens sensory, hands-on content for a convenience store. At about 110 pyeong (363.63㎡), it is larger than a typical convenience store.
In addition to existing content such as the food station, fashion & beauty, wine & liquor zone, and K-ramen zone, new participatory content has been added. They include: ▲ the global K-pop fandom zone "Whosfan store" ▲ Neoguri's ramen shop ▲ gacha zone ▲ K-souvenir zone ▲ K-event zone.
The "Whosfan store" popup zone was created as the largest area, at 15 pyeong, more than 10% of the store's total floor space. It sells various merchandise from K-pop idol singers.
The "Neoguri's ramen shop" corner, created in collaboration with Nongshim, features an instant-ramen making space decorated with various Nongshim ramen sculptures and Neoguri characters. Nongshim's flagship products such as Shin Ramyun and Chapagetti are also on display.
The K-souvenir zone stocks various items such as health foods including red ginseng packs, as well as snacks, mix coffee, ramen, and tteokbokki, which are especially popular with foreigners. Various keyrings and souvenirs that reflect Korean culture are also being showcased.
Seven-Eleven is aggressively expanding the New Wave model. It plans to additionally open "New Wave Myeong-dong-daero" and "New Wave Daejeon Lotte" at the end of this month. It is also pushing to add openings within the year in key regions outside the greater Seoul area.
