COSMAX, a global cosmetics ODM (research, development, and manufacturing) corporations, said on the 24th that it will work with the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB) to develop new functional materials incorporating bio technology.
To that end, COSMAX signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for "research on innovative materials based on indigenous plants" with KRIBB's Overseas Biological Resources Center at the COSMAX Indonesia R&I Center in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the 22nd.
The two sides plan to expand bio-based cosmetics research and manufacturing by establishing a joint research and development system for the consolidation of basic science and commercialization technologies. To that end, they will combine the biotechnological value of Indonesia's native plant resources with eco-friendly production technologies to develop new materials that balance sustainability and efficacy.
Established in 2011, COSMAX Indonesia is equipped with local research infrastructure, including a fragrance lab and a sensory lab at its R&I Center. It has steadily strengthened its in-house research capabilities by developing perfumes tailored to halal cultural markets and formulations customized for local consumers.
Jeong Min-gyeong, head of COSMAX Indonesia, said, "We will strengthen our technology leadership through innovative material research that combines localized studies with K-bio technology," adding, "From discovering new materials based on indigenous plants to developing locally customized formulations, we will provide comprehensive solutions that cover the Indonesian beauty market as a whole."
