Starbucks Korea has decided to ban the consumption of outside food inside its stores nationwide.
According to the industry on the 15th, Starbucks Korea has posted notices at stores nationwide since the 13th banning the consumption of outside food. However, customers accompanied by infants may feed baby food.
A Starbucks Korea official said, "We are providing guidance to restrict outside drinks and food at all stores to ensure a pleasant experience for customers using our stores."
Until now, Starbucks Korea had allowed outside food as long as it did not have a strong odor, even if it was not ordered at the store. However, controversy has arisen recently after posts on online communities reported customers eating tteokbokki and fried foods at Starbucks.
Earlier in Aug., Starbucks Korea also posted notices banning personal desktop computers, power strips, and partitions to limit so-called "kagongjok" (people who study in cafes).
