LG H&H said on the 29th that it has hired Lee Seon-joo, formerly of L'Oréal, as chief executive officer (CEO).
LG H&H held a board meeting that day and appointed Lee, a marketing expert and executive who has worked across various brands including L'Oréal, Kiehl's, Yves Saint Laurent, Mediheal, and AHC, as the new president.
Lee began in public relations and corporate communications at L'Oréal Korea and served as general manager (GM) of the Yves Saint Laurent and Kiehl's brands. Later, as executive vice president of international business development for Kiehl's, Lee was credited with elevating Kiehl's to the No. 2 brand within L'Oréal's luxury division after Lancôme and doubling its global sales.
Lee then worked as head of the global strategy division and U.S. branch chief at L&P Cosmetic, leading the entry of the Mediheal mask pack brand into the U.S. market, and later became CEO of Carver Korea, a subsidiary of Unilever, contributing to establishing the AHC brand's BI (brand identity) and strengthening its competitiveness.
Regarding the appointment, LG H&H explained, "We determined Lee is the right person to lead a leap forward in the household and health cosmetics business by demonstrating exceptional marketing instincts rooted in diverse brand marketing and business experience."
Lee is slated to take office as representative director after an extraordinary shareholders' meeting and board meeting on Nov. 10 this year.
Meanwhile, current president Lee Jeong-ae is said to have decided to step down before the year-end regular personnel reshuffle for a new leap forward at LG H&H. The LG H&H board also respected Lee Jeong-ae's wishes that day and accepted the resignation.
