Lotte Duty Free said on the 23rd that it passed the review to renew and extend for five years the duty-free shop license for its Myeong-dong main store in downtown Seoul.
The Korea Customs Service bonded store (duty-free shop) license review committee deliberated in the afternoon at the Customs Human Resources Development Institute in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, on the agenda to renew licenses for downtown Seoul duty-free shops and voted to renew the license of Hotel Lotte (Lotte Duty Free Myeong-dong main store).
The Lotte Duty Free Myeong-dong main store scored a total of 824.34 points (out of a total of 1,000 points) in areas such as performance records and plan evaluation, winning renewal of its license.
According to Lotte Duty Free, it received favorable evaluations for its capacity to manage licensed bonded areas, management capabilities, and contributions to society and mutually beneficial cooperation.
With this license renewal review for the Myeong-dong main store, the Lotte Duty Free Myeong-dong main store will operate for five more years, through Dec. 2030.
A Lotte Duty Free official said, "The Lotte Duty Free Myeong-dong main store, as a duty-free shop that represents Korea, has once again had its value recognized through this license renewal," and added, "We will continue to provide the best experience to tourists from around the world visiting Korea and will fulfill our responsibilities and role as the hub of Korea's shopping tourism."
