Korea's convenience store industry will launch large-scale promotions to coincide with the second round of people's livelihood recovery consumption coupons set for the end of this month. Sales data improved for everyday essentials after the first coupons were issued at the end of Jul.
GS25 said on the 16th it will run promotions from the 22nd of this month through the 31st of next month to match the application and issuance of the second round of people's livelihood recovery consumption coupons. It prepared a range of benefits focused on key categories closely tied to customers' daily lives.
GS25 included 10 daily necessities under its private brand (PB) Real Price in the discount lineup. It expanded categories to include high-purchase-rate essentials such as eggs, tofu, milk and toilet paper, as well as cookies. It offers a 25% discount using a QR code when paying with partner cards such as Kookmin, BC, Samsung and Woori Cards. It will run 1+1 and 2+1 deals on 19 popular ramyun items.
CU will also offer value discounts across various categories, including processed foods such as ramyun and instant rice, as well as HMR (home meal replacement), beverages, toilet paper and alcohol. The products with the biggest discounts are toilet paper, with multiple brands such as KLEANNARA, Kleenex and Jalpullineun Jip discounted by up to 69%.
For popular items like ramyun and instant rice, bundles of six for 11 popular cup ramyun varieties such as OTOKI yukgaejang and Cup Noodle are discounted 33%. Nongshim Shin Ramyun Tumba, Kimchi Big Bowl Noodles, Samyang Original Cup and nine popular bag noodles will have concurrent 1+1 and 2+1 deals. Ten OTOKI cupbap varieties will be offered at a special price of 10,000 won for four, while instant rice such as Hetbahn and porridge will offer better value through 1+1 deals and combo giveaways.
CU also provides an additional 25% discount on 33 bulk bundle items such as tissues, bag noodles, instant rice and snacks when paying with BC Card, Samsung Card, Shinhan Card, Woori Card or Hana Card after scanning the Pocket CU membership QR.
7-Eleven will run promotions on more than 2,200 products. Among them, about 40 items in the fresh food, ramyun, refrigerated and daily necessities categories will have "N+1 and discount promotions." At the same time, it will offer an additional 30% discount when paying with Toss Pay, Samsung Card or Lotte Card.
It will discount by up to 20% more than 10 fresh items including zucchini, eggs, onions, peeled garlic, potatoes and perilla leaves. Four frozen meat products (Korean pork belly, shoulder butt, cheek jowl and rolled pork) will also be sold at prices about 15% lower on average.
For 20 daily essentials, it will offer 1+1 deals and price discounts, and ahead of the upcoming Chuseok, it will sell three Baekhwaseobok products (180 ml, 700 ml, 1,800 ml) at a 20% discount.
Emart24 will run 1+1 and 2+1 freebie and discount promotions on a total of 3,021 products through the end of this month. For all instant rice products except bundle items, it will run 1+1 and 2+1 freebie and discount promotions and offer an additional discount of 30% on payments of 10,000 won or more and 20% on payments of 5,000 won or more when paying with event cards (Hana, Samsung, Woori).
It will also run 1+1 promotions on 14 fresh items including tofu and bean sprouts, and offer 1+1 and 2+1 freebie promotions on more than 150 products including porridge, refrigerated soups, and bag and cup ramyun.
With the second round of people's livelihood recovery consumption coupons set for the 22nd of this month and the Chuseok holiday beginning in Oct., Emart24 will also run a promotion from the 1st to the 15th of next month on all fresh items such as eggs, tofu and bean sprouts needed for holiday meal prep, as well as all seasonings.
