GS Retail said on the 14th that it signed a business agreement with NongHyup Economic Holdings to promote consumption of domestic livestock products and increase income for local livestock farms.
Through this agreement, the two companies will support livestock farms struggling with rising prices, climate change, and oversupply. They also agreed to contribute to stabilizing consumer prices by offering high-quality domestic livestock products at reasonable prices.
The main points of the agreement are: ▲ stable supply of domestic livestock products through GS Retail's online and offline distribution network ▲ joint product planning using domestic livestock products such as NongHyup Ansim Hanwoo ▲ promotion and marketing activities ▲ building a sustainable win-win model for livestock farms.
GS Retail plans to purchase NongHyup Ansim Hanwoo and roll it out through more than 18,000 offline stores nationwide, including the GS25 convenience store chain and the GS The Fresh supermarket, as well as various sales channels such as the Our Neighborhood GS app. By doing so, it aims to establish a stable supply chain spanning online and offline channels and reliably provide consumers with high-quality domestic livestock products.
They will also move forward with joint product planning using NongHyup Ansim Hanwoo and Handon (Korean pork). Ahead of Chuseok, GS25 released four gift sets composed of cuts such as ribeye, soup meat, and bulgogi. They are NongHyup Ansim Hanwoo No. 1 (98,000 won), NongHyup Ansim Hanwoo No. 4 (148,000 won), NongHyup Ansim Handon No. 2 (78,000 won), and NongHyup Ansim Handon No. 4 (98,000 won).
GS The Fresh also plans to offer NongHyup Ansim Hanwoo soup meat and bulgogi products (300g each). A special event for the launch of NongHyup Ansim Hanwoo is being prepared starting Oct. 1.
Oh Jin-seok, head of the GS Retail Platform BU, said, "We will continue to build a sustainable distribution ecosystem through various new product developments and collaborations using domestic livestock products."
